About Joanne
The most important fact about me is that I am a Christian and I love the Lord. My husband and I enjoy having friends and family over for dinner. Reading is one of my favorite pastimes. I am a huge fan of CSI and Castle and other crime shows on TV. My first book is a mystery novel about a crime scene investigator. On our honeymoon, we went to Hawaii and it’s one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been too. It also inspired me to write one of my current works in progress.
Interview with Joanne
How did you meet your husband?
We met at church and became friends for several years before he asked me out. My husband proposed to me after dating for two months and we got married one year later. Being friends first for such a long time has helped to build a strong foundation in our marriage.
What's your favorite part about writing romantic scenes?
I am a true romantic at heart and that’s one of the main reasons why I love writing romance novels. Even when I am working on a mystery novel, I love to add a romantic plot to the story as well. I love creating different romantic settings and writing playful dialogue between the characters for those scenes.
Have you ever had a crush on one of your characters?
Maybe a little one on the idea of Mr. Shipley, the male lead in Mr. Shipley’s Governess. One of my favorite movies is Emma, based on the book by Jane Austen. I modeled my character, Sebastian Shipley, after Mr. Knightly from Austen’s book. Sebastian is a modern day version of that type of chivalrous, dashing gentleman. Who wouldn’t love such a character!
