Meet Katie McCurdy

About Katie

I’m the third eldest in a family of ten children, so as you can guess, my life stays hoppin’! My older brother is away at law school and my older sister has recently begun courting and planning her future, thus opening a very new chapter in my life. While I’m taking on more responsibilities around the house, writing and reading still remain my favorite things to do, even if it’s just for a few minutes each before bed. I am currently writing a medieval suspense with the working title of The Princess’ Assassin. As mentioned, along with a passion for writing, I am an avid reader. My free time is spent either on the computer, or in a book…or playing a good game of volleyball and hanging out with my awesome family and friends.

Interview with Katie

How do you pack emotions into your writing without going too far?

Usually, on my first draft, I go too far. lol! I often go TOO much in depth, and make my scene length and drawn out. When I go back to rewrite, that's when I tighten my writing and bring in the emotional impact I need. I've found that the best way to do this, without going too far, is tight writing.

What is your favorite genre to write and what do you love about it?

Hmm...When I first began writing, I enjoyed historical. But since beginning The Princess Assassin', I find myself falling in love with the medieval era. So, I'd have to say that I really enjoy writing in the dark ages.

What has your experience been as a staff member of Clash of the Titles?

It's been great! All the other COTT staff members are awesome and really made me feel welcome. It's been a wonderful experience!!

TEN siblings...yikes! LOL I'm the youngest of eight, so I'm not a stranger to large, bustling households. I so admire you for being so far along in your writing career at such a young age. You are an inspiration, Katie dear! :D

I adore medieval! It's dark and mysterious and world so far removed from what we have now.
We're so glad to have you here at COTT, Katie.

Gail - Thanks! This has been fun. :-)

Delia - haha, yes, ten. Never a dull moment, that's for sure (unless I am up at midnight...when all the kiddies are in bed. ;-)

Pamela - Thank you so much!!

April - Yeah, I love the "dark and mysterious" aspect of it most. ;-) Thanks, I'm glad to be here!!
